One of my favorite beauty products to recommend is tubing mascara. In this post, I’ll tell you why I use it every single day and why it might be a game-changer for you too.

What Are Tubing Mascaras?

As the name suggests, tubing mascaras form tiny tubes around your natural lashes instead of just coating them with pigment. The unique formula makes the removal very easy. You simply apply warm water to your lashes, gently rub them with your fingertips, and the mascara slides off like little threads. No rubbing, no residue, and no need for a cleanser.

How To Identify a Tubing Mascara

Most mascaras will already have the word “tubing” in the product name or something along the lines of “easy wash off” or “no smudge” like my current favorite from Catrice. If it’s not immediately visible it could be on the back of the product listed in the removal instructions.

Still not the case? Then the brand is sending you on an adventure and it’s time to channel your inner chemist. Look at the ingredients list and search for words like polymer, polysilicon-11, cera alba or glyceryl stearate. They are often signs for a tubing mascara formula.

Why Do I Love Them?

One time I was at KIKO and noticed they had launched a new tubing mascara. I turned to my friend and started raving about them. Another customer overheard us and asked what tubing mascaras were. Suddenly, I was in the middle of a store “selling” a mascara to a woman I didn’t know, for a brand I didn’t work for. I think that qualifies me to write this blog post, right?

But seriously, the number one reason I love tubing mascaras is the removal. I don’t need a remover and within a few seconds the mascara is gone. I used mascaras like the Maybelline Sky High that left me with dark smudges under my eyes, even after using my most trusted cleanser. I just couldn’t remove it properly. And rubbing your delicate eye area over and over? Not ideal.

Another added bonus is that I don’t notice any smudging or flaking during the day and I seem to get the best results with those type formulas. I get lots of volume and perfectly separated lashes.

When Not To Use A Tubing Mascara

There are definitely occasions where I wouldn’t suggest a tubing mascara. Let’s say you have a wedding or another event where some tears will roll down your face or you plan on going swimming. In those cases the tubing mascara will definitely come off, so it’s best to go for a waterproof mascara.

My Favorites

I have used the Estée Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge mascara for many years and still love it to this day. The big wand makes the application quick and effortless.

The Catrice Glam Doll Easy Wash Off Mascara is also one that I often reach for. The curved wand makes it easy to reach any corner. It is at a cheaper price point and usually available at many drugstores.

What Is Your Favorite Mascara?

Make up preferences are very individual and mascara is no exception. However, I still hope if you try tubing mascaras that you will love them as much as I do.

What is your favorite mascara and have you ever tried tubing mascaras? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
